KTM Duke Underbelly Exhaust Guard / Belly Pan

Every time you lean your Duke into a tight corner or navigate a broken road, the exposed underbelly of your exhaust is just centimetres from a costly impact. The ZM Threads Underbelly Guard changes that — a precision-crafted shield that protects your exhaust header and mid-pipe from rocks, debris, speed-bumps, and scrapes, while giving your Duke a purposeful, race-inspired stance from every angle.

Machined and formed from high-grade aluminium alloy with a CNC-finished surface, this underbelly guard bolts directly to your stock frame mounting points — no modifications needed. Whether you're a daily commuter battling potholes or a weekend canyon carver, this is the practical upgrade that pays for itself the first time it takes a hit so your exhaust doesn't have to.

Key Features

  • Direct Bolt-On Fitment — Mounts to OEM frame points. Zero drilling or cutting required.
  • High-Grade Aluminium Alloy — Lightweight, rigid, and heat-resistant. Anodised finish for corrosion protection and a premium look.
  • Full Exhaust Header & Mid-Pipe Coverage — Shields the most vulnerable sections of your exhaust from road debris, speed bumps, and accidental scrapes.
  • CNC Machined Precision — Tight tolerances for a flush, rattle-free fit that looks factory-fitted.
  • Heat-Vented Design — Strategic cut-outs allow heat to dissipate efficiently, preventing heat soak and discolouration.
  • Race-Inspired Aesthetics — Transforms the underside profile of your Duke with a clean, aggressive look.
  • Available in Black Anodised & Raw Aluminium — Choose to match your Duke's colour theme.

FAQ — How to Fit the Underbelly Guard

Q1. Is this a bolt-on fitment or does it require modification?

It is a 100% bolt-on fitment. The guard is designed to use the existing OEM frame/exhaust bracket mounting points on all compatible Duke models. No drilling, cutting, or welding is required.

Q2. What tools do I need?

You'll need a 8mm and 10mm spanner or socket set, a torque wrench, and basic hand tools. Installation can comfortably be completed in 20–30 minutes at home or a roadside location.

Q3. Step-by-step fitment guide — how do I install it?

  1. Allow the engine and exhaust to cool completely before starting. The exhaust retains heat for a long time — never work on a hot system.
  2. Place the bike on its centre stand or a paddock stand to ensure stability and give clear access to the underside.
  3. Locate the OEM mounting points on the frame and exhaust bracket underneath the bike. Clean any dirt or grease from the mounting surfaces.
  4. Offer up the underbelly guard and align the mounting holes with the OEM points. Have a second person hold it in place if needed.
  5. Insert the supplied stainless steel bolts through the guard into the mounting points. Hand-tighten only at this stage.
  6. Check alignment — ensure the guard sits flush and parallel to the exhaust, with even gaps on both sides.
  7. Torque the bolts to 10–12 Nm using a torque wrench. Do not overtighten — aluminium threads strip easily.
  8. Perform a visual inspection — confirm no part of the guard contacts the exhaust pipe directly (there should be a small heat gap). If contact is found, use the supplied washers as spacers.
  9. Start the engine and run for 5 minutes. Check for any unusual vibrations or rattles. If present, re-check torque and alignment.

Q4. Will this guard get hot during riding?

The guard sits in close proximity to the exhaust and will get warm to hot during riding. The vented design dissipates heat effectively and the anodised aluminium is rated for sustained high-temperature environments. However, do not touch the guard immediately after riding — allow it to cool for at least 20 minutes.

Q5. Will the guard rattle or vibrate at high RPM?

When installed correctly and torqued to spec, the guard is rattle-free. If you experience vibration, re-check that all bolts are torqued evenly and that the guard is not making metal-to-metal contact with the exhaust at any point.

Q6. Can I use this with an aftermarket exhaust or slip-on?

The guard is designed for the stock exhaust routing. Slip-on exhausts that retain the stock mid-pipe and header are generally compatible. Full aftermarket exhaust systems with a significantly different routing may not be compatible — please check dimensions before ordering.

Q7. Is this compatible with my Duke's OEM exhaust heat shield?

Yes. The underbelly guard is designed to complement and work alongside the OEM heat shields. It does not replace or require removal of the stock heat shields.

Q8. How do I maintain and clean the guard?

Wipe down with a damp cloth after rides to remove road grime. For stubborn deposits, use a mild aluminium cleaner. Avoid high-pressure jet washing directly on the mounting bolts to prevent corrosion. Inspect bolt torque every 3,000 km or at each service.
