RXZ Butterfly Bumper — Universal Fit for Splendor, RXZ & All Two-Stroke Bikes

There's a certain pride that comes with keeping a classic running right. Whether it's your trusty Splendor that's covered a lakh kilometres without complaint, your Yamaha RXZ that still screams with that unmistakable two-stroke bark, or any other workhorse from the two-stroke era — your bike deserves protection that matches its character.

The ZM Threads RXZ Butterfly Bumper is a robust, wide-stance front bumper designed to take the hit so your headlight, mudguard, and front forks don't have to. Built from heavy-duty mild steel with a tough powder-coated finish, this butterfly-style bumper is a universally loved classic accessory for commuter and vintage two-stroke machines across India.

Key Features

  • Universal Fitment — Designed to fit Hero Splendor, Yamaha RXZ, RX100, RXG, Passion, CD100, and most standard Indian commuter & two-stroke bikes with a 22mm front fork tube diameter.
  • Heavy-Duty Mild Steel Construction — Thick-gauge steel tube frame; built to absorb impacts from low-speed collisions, parking knocks, and kerb scrapes.

  • Powder-Coated Finish — Available in Gloss Black and Chrome. Rust-resistant coating ensures long-term durability through rain, mud, and daily use.

FAQ — How to Fit the RXZ Butterfly Bumper

Q1. Is this a bolt-on fitment or does it require welding?

No welding required. The bumper uses adjustable clamp-style brackets that grip around the front fork legs. It is a completely reversible, bolt-on installation that can be done with basic hand tools in under 20 minutes.

Q2. Will this fit my Hero Splendor / Yamaha RXZ / RX100?

Yes — this bumper is compatible with all standard Indian commuter and two-stroke bikes with a 22mm front fork tube outer diameter, which includes the Hero Splendor (all variants), Yamaha RXZ, RX100, RX135, Hero Passion, CD100, and similar models. Please measure your fork tube OD before ordering if you are unsure of your model's specification.

Q3. What tools do I need to install it?

You need a 10mm spanner or socket, a screwdriver, and optionally a measuring tape to centre the bumper. No specialist tools are required. Most riders can fit this at home or roadside.

Q4. Step-by-step fitment guide — how do I install it?

  1. Place the bike on its centre stand for stability and clear access to the front forks.
  2. Clean the front fork legs in the area where the clamp brackets will sit — wipe away grease, dirt, or paint flakes for a secure grip.
  3. Slide the clamp brackets onto the left and right fork legs at the desired height (typically 80–120mm above the front axle, or just above the mudguard stay). Hand-position only — do not tighten yet.
  4. Attach the butterfly bumper frame to both clamp brackets. Insert the mounting bolts through the bumper arms into the clamp bracket holes. Hand-tighten the nuts.
  5. Centre the bumper — check that the bumper is symmetrical and level from the front. Both wings should be at equal height and angle. Use a measuring tape to verify if needed.
  6. Tighten the clamp bracket bolts around the fork legs to 12–15 Nm. Tighten in a cross/alternating pattern if the bracket has multiple bolts to ensure even clamping pressure without distorting the fork tube.
  7. Tighten the bumper-to-bracket mounting bolts to 10–12 Nm.
  8. Perform a final alignment check — view from the front and top to confirm the bumper is straight and level.
  9. Turn the handlebars lock-to-lock and confirm the bumper does not contact the tyre, mudguard, or any other component during steering.
  10. Test ride slowly in a clear area and re-check all bolts after the first 50 km for any settling.

Q5. Will the bumper affect my bike's steering or handling?

When fitted correctly, the bumper does not contact the tyre or mudguard during full lock-to-lock steering. The weight addition (approx. 600–800g) is minimal and concentrated at the front axle level, with negligible effect on handling for normal commuting use.

Q6. Will the clamp damage or scratch my fork tubes?

The clamp brackets are designed to grip securely without scoring the fork tube when torqued to the specified value. For extra protection, you can wrap a thin strip of rubber or foam tape around the fork tube contact area before fitting the clamp — this also improves grip and prevents micro-movement.

Q7. Can I fit this on a disc brake fork (telescopic)?

The bumper is designed for standard telescopic forks found on commuter bikes. It is compatible with both drum and disc brake variants as long as the fork OD is within the 20–27mm range. Ensure the clamp position does not interfere with disc brake callipers or ABS sensors if present.

Q8. The bumper is vibrating or rattling while riding — how do I fix it?

Vibration is usually caused by under-torqued clamps or the bumper making contact with another component. Re-check and torque all mounting bolts to spec. Confirm no part of the bumper is touching the mudguard or tyre. Adding rubber washers between the bumper bracket and fork clamp can further dampen vibration on rough roads.
