FAQ — How to Fit the Handle Bar Raiser
Q1. Is this a direct bolt-on upgrade or does it require modification?
It is a 100% bolt-on fitment. No drilling, cutting, or welding is required. The raiser replaces the stock handlebar clamp risers on the R15's triple clamp.
Q2. What tools do I need to install it?
You'll need: a 6mm Allen key (hex wrench), a torque wrench, and basic hand tools. No special workshop equipment is required — most riders can complete this at home in under 30 minutes.
Q3. Step-by-step fitment guide — how do I install it?
- Remove the stock handlebar clamp bolts using a 6mm Allen key. Carefully lift the handlebar off the triple clamp — do not disconnect cables or switches.
- Clean the triple clamp surface to remove any dirt or grease.
- Place the Handle Bar Raiser onto the triple clamp mounting points. Align the bolt holes precisely.
- Insert and hand-tighten the supplied bolts through the raiser into the triple clamp. Do not torque yet.
- Reposition the handlebar onto the raiser clamp. Align to your preferred position (straight or slightly angled toward the rider).
- Torque the handlebar clamp bolts to 10–12 Nm in a cross pattern to ensure even clamping.
- Torque the raiser base bolts to the triple clamp to 18–20 Nm.
- Check cable tension — turn the handlebar lock-to-lock and verify throttle returns freely, brake lines are not stretched, and the clutch cable has no excess tension.
- Test ride at low speed in a safe area before heading to traffic.
Q4. Will I need to extend my cables or brake lines?
For the standard 25–30mm raise, most riders do not need cable extensions. The stock R15 cables have sufficient slack to accommodate this height increase. However, always check cable tension after installation and before riding.
Q5. Will this affect the warranty of my bike?
Installing aftermarket accessories may affect your manufacturer's warranty on the handlebar and related components. We recommend checking with your Yamaha dealer. The raiser itself is a non-permanent modification and can be reversed to stock at any time.
Q6. Can I use my stock handlebar with this raiser?
Yes. This raiser is designed to work with the stock R15 handlebar. If you're using an aftermarket fat bar (22mm vs stock 22mm), verify the clamp diameter before purchasing.
Q7. How do I know if the fitment is secure?
After torquing all bolts to the specified values, try to rotate the handlebar with significant force — it should not move. Perform a lock-to-lock steering check. If there is any play, re-torque and re-check alignment.
